All eyes

All eyes
One of the “eyes”: Note the imperfections that show it was hand-drawn. Each card is 4 in x 6 in

I HAVE never systematically developed icons for my art. I created the ones I’ve used spontaneously or adapted them from earlier works. I have found that the latter has benefited me richly. Indeed, in my first Restart 2020 solo (2022), three of its nine components evolved from earlier works and 1980s styles. Read here, here, here and here.

This 50-piece postcard series is my attempt to formalise what I learned from earlier creations. Focused on eyes, I will use it as a reference for future works, not to copy, but to adapt, to support my evolutionary process. Over time, I hope to broaden the scope of these often surrealistic, fun-driven forms to include, say, markets, seashores, cities, marshlands, etc.
